Dunkin' Donuts Glazed Donut Breakfast Sandwich

America runs on Dunkin’, albeit gradually slower and slower.

The Dunkin’ Donuts Glazed Donut Breakfast Sandwich is a glazed donut split in half and topped with bacon and a fried egg. It launches nationwide today -- National Donut Day, no less. America, how has it taken us this long to make this sandwich a reality?

Your Lunch Bloggers met up to try one, and when we took it out of the wrapper, we were impressed with how artfully crafted it is. It actually looks like it does in pictures -- a fast food rarity.

Because the sandwich is served warm, it’s a little sticky when you pick it up, but well worth the mess for that first hot, sweet bite. The bacon is pleasingly crisp, another thing we’re not used to saying about fast food. However, the sandwich could use a few more strips of it to make the salty flavor really punch through what the donut's bringing.

As for the fried egg, due to its uniformly flat surface and perfectly circular yolk, it appears to have been sawed off an egg log. But that’s just something you have to resign yourself to when grabbing breakfast on the go.

The Glazed Donut Breakfast Sandwich is pretty delicious. That said, $2.99 is a bit much for it -- especially considering a single glazed donut runs a mere 99 cents. This is, at best, a $1.49 sandwich. For $2.99, we want twice as much bacon and it better be the good thick-cut stuff.

And now that this sandwich exists, the next question is which burgerdoodle is going to have the guts to roll out the Luther Burger? Feels like a Hardee’s move.
